Professional development

Induction

From day one of your career at TN, we’ll take you through a structured induction programme to start building a strong foundation of core consulting skills and sector knowledge. The induction includes mastering the basics of data analysis and developing a ‘one version of the truth’ diagnostic for a healthcare provider

Learning on the job

Within your first weeks, you’ll gain hands-on experience and direct exposure to both our clients and internal leadership. You’ll be assigned to a client team with experienced members of the team to learn from. We give you real responsibility early-on, and you’ll quickly gain practical experience in problem structuring, data analysis, written & verbal communication, and client engagement

Guidance & mentorship

Alongside your project team, you’ll be supported by a developmental lead – a member of the leadership team outside your project – who will help you reflect on your learning and create development plans. Additionally, you’ll be assigned a ‘buddy’ – your go-to person within the firm for informal support and advice on personal and professional growth

Feedback & reflection

We believe in continuous, transparent feedback. Your development is supported through:
  • Regular one-to-ones with your line manager
  • Live feedback from across your team
  • Formal reviews with leadership every six months
These forums help you understand your strengths, spot opportunities for growth, and road map your development

Tools for growth

We give you practical resources to structure your development:
  • PD playbook: Our core framework for consulting excellence, used in feedback and reviews
  • Learning journal: A tool to help you reflect on your learnings day-to-day

Training & offsites

  • We regularly run whole company training sessions to share insights from projects across the company, build core consulting skills, and develop our health and social care knowledge base
  • Our offsites are in-depth sessions designed to go beyond project work and provide space for wider reflections on individual development and the firm’s direction of travel

Expertise

As you progress, we’ll encourage you to develop deep expertise in an area of clinical operations (e.g. emergency pathway, mental health) or a functional capability (e.g. change management, page making). You’ll become a go-to person for your team and clients, shaping how we deliver impact and contributing to the firm’s collective knowledge
